Homemade Pizza From Scratch

I just got done making the BEST homemade pizza all from scratch, so I thought I would share it with the blog world!  If you know my husband you know he loves his pizza, so I was a little worried he might not like this but I am very proud to say he loved it and said I could "make this pizza any day of the week for him!" Success!! I had never made a homemade pizza before but had every ingredient in our pantry so I just dove right in and gave it a try! The best part is the crust doesn't have any yeast in it so it's super simple!

Pizza Crust:
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 3/4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp oil
1 cup water

Pizza Sauce:
1 can tomato sauce
1 tsp crushed garlic (I used about 1/2 because I was nervous)
1-2 tbsp sugar (I used 2, but I think only 1 would be better!)
Oregano (as much as you'd like to taste)

So I took pictures to share the process.  I don't think they are that good of pictures but you get the idea! Maybe I will have to invest in a better camera if I continue to find such good recipes ;)

Crust Ingredients + Water

Combine all dry ingredients then add oil and water

Knead together for about 3-4 minutes (if it's too sticky add a little more water)

Sauce Ingredients

Mix all ingredients together

Preheat over to 400 degrees and spray a cookie sheet with non-stick spray

We just added Cheddar and Mozzarella cheese but you could add anything your heart desires!

Spread dough out on cooking sheet

Add sauce

Add lots and lots of cheese :) the best part!

In the process of baking

Bake for 15 minutes!

Maury-the former pizza guy- cutting up our pizza

We cut it into 10 slices!

I was beyond surprised that in only 15 minutes the crust was cooked perfectly, the cheese was not only melted, but gooey and browned just right and it was piping hot! And best of all, it wasn't greasy at all! Seriously, what more could you ask for?! I did add 2 Tbsp of sugar to the sauce mix, but I think next time I will only add 1 Tbsp. It was just a little bit too sweet of a taste for my liking.  Anyways, I hope everyone gives this recipe a try.  It took about 25 minutes from start to finish and in my book thats a great recipe! :)

Until next time,

Brie :)

Yankee's Game

Last night Maury and I went to see the Yankee's play the Mariners in Safeco Field.  We thought we might be in the minority of Yankee's fans there, but we were pleasantly surprised to see lots of fans wearing Yankee gear!  Though the lady behind us wasn't to pleased with us and other New York fans, it did provide great laughs to hear the things she was cheering. (Note to crazy lady- Don't be the loudest person if you don't understand the sport!)

Before the game we decided to treat ourselves to Cheesecake Factory (my favorite!).  They actually have a great happy hour!

After dinner on our way to the game!

The freeway feels like you're driving right into the stadium

View from our seats!

The clouds look mean but there was not a single drop of rain

Bill Russel threw the first pitch--Maury was very excited about this!

We loved our seats and the weather was perfect!!

Trying out a new app on my iPhone

Even though the Yankee's lost 4-3 it was still a great game to watch! I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend.  Next week my mom comes to visit for 5 days and I am beyond excited to spend time with her!! :)

Until next time,

Brie :)

Reality TV Overload

Okay, so after The Bachelorette starting again this week and American Idol announcing Scotty McCreery as the winning I have two questions this week.

What the heck was Ashley thinking giving Bentley a rose?! Seriously.

Yeah he might be cute, but all of that goes out the window when you see the mean things he says behind her back!

Second question (that I've been searching the internet for answers all day) are Lauren and Scotty actually dating?! If not, they should be because they are cute!

I know I said I only had two questions, but since everyone that reads this blog (if there is anyone) knows my obsession with the Kardashians, it seems only right to mention that Kim Kardashian is engaged!  I like to think I was one of the first people to know because I saw Khloe Kardashian post it really early in the morning on twitter! Haha Anyways, my question is, $2 Million on a ring, seriously?! That seems a bit over the top!

I think it's safe to say, this blog has been 'celebrity' overload!  Tomorrow Maury and I are going to the Mariners vs Yankee's baseball game, so hopefully I will remember my camera and take lots of pictures!

Until next time,

Brie :)

Exploring Washington

It's been a few weeks since Maury and I have done an adventure day, but this weekend we fixed that by trying a couple new things!  On Thursday night we tried a restaurant called Tugboat Annie's in Olympia.  I found it on the internet and thought it would be fun because it was on the Puget Sound.  We both decided if we had found it on our own, I would have said "We are not eating here!" Because it is in the middle of no where, with not many things but abandoned cars and boats.  I was very, very wrong.  The food was wonderful, their happy hour was great and the view was amazing!

This is the restaurant (not my picture)

It was raining when we left, but their patio will be great this summer!

Then on Friday, Maury had the day off so we decided to give the Olympia Farmers Market a shot and we loved it!! Great food, music, and atmosphere.  I was happy to find fresh veggies closer than Pikes Place in Seattle!

The view from the Farmers Market

Beautiful weather

Soaking up the sun any chance we get!

After Farmers Market we went to Tumwater Falls.  This is a beautiful trail along waterfalls and it was so peaceful.  We walked along the water and just talked.  It was so quiet and pretty! We talked about going back for a picnic this summer and taking visitors there too! :)

They are man made for power but still pretty

Many exciting things are coming up that we are both excited for. We bought baseball tickets to see the Yankees play the Mariners next Friday. Then my mom is coming to Washington for some much needed retail therapy!! Also, it's almost summer in Washington with means no rain and 70 degree sunny beautiful days! Come visit and explore with us while the weather is good!! :)

Until next time,

Brie :)

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to the best mom around.  I am so grateful for the mom I have.  She is the most beautiful, caring, giving, funny, loving person I know.  She loves to take care of the people she loves and she does the best job at it.  My mom and I are best friends and have the BEST time when we are together. We have countless shopping days, lunch dates, ice-cream stops, and vacations together that I will never forget.  Thank you for showing me unconditional love and support and I can only hope to be as good of a mom as you are someday.  I'm sad I couldn't be with my mom this year to celebrate, but it only made me that much more grateful for her! I love you forever mom!

Happy Mother's Day Mom!!

Until next time,

Brie :)

Happy Birthday Seth!

My baby brother turned 20 on May 5th, a Cinco De Mayo baby!! I can't believe I have a brother that is 20. I have loved watching him grow into such a wonderful, talented, hilarious man.  He is playing baseball at UC Davis and I am such a proud sister. I have been watching him play baseball forever and like to think I am him biggest fan, which is saying a lot because my dad and mom have never missed a baseball game! I'm so grateful for the relationship we have today and know it will just continue to get closer and stronger the older we both get!

So I wanted to wish a HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY Birthday to my baby brother, Seth J! :)
